There are six computerized lanes; the facilities are top of the range and to AMF standard. If you feel the need for speed, but not of the skyward variety, then check out go karting. It’s not just for kids! Ghibli Raceway is a professional go-kart center, with four challenging tracks in one, built to FIA standards. The main circuit is 592 meters with the International Championship circuit 1,194 meters. As a competitor you are given racing overalls, a cotton balaclava and a full-face helmet. The marshals brief you on the rules of racing and then you are assigned your kart. The standard kart is 6.5hp and the expert kart (once qualified) is 13hp. As you whiz around the circuit, the computerized system clocks your current time and fastest lap alongside your competitors. The results are continually displayed on a large board at the side of the circuit. Go on your own and you will be placed with a group or make up a team. There are also races for children on a 220-meter circuit with a ‘cadet’ kart specially designed for kids. The raceway is situated on the airport road just outside Na’ama Bay next to Sofitel and the Hyatt hotel. |

If you are an early bird and love horses, then take the opportunity to go on a sunrise trip out in the desert or along the beach. There are a couple of stables offering excursion rides. There is nothing nicer than being on horseback in the peaceful desert at dawn, while it is still cool and enjoyable. If dawn is not your thing then there are also sunset rides. Just be honest and let the guide know if you are a novice or experienced, so you are ensured a suitable horse and pace. Concorde Hotel and Sofitel just outside Na’ama Bay have a well run and profession operations and the horses are well looked after. Most rides vary from one to two hours. |

Believe it or not there is an ice ring in Sharm el Sheik. It is real ice, so it’s really cool, making it a pleasant way to escape the heat during the day. The rink is 300 m2, which is large enough to get some speed up. Ice hockey, figure skating plus sound and light shows are planned for the future. The skates are good quality with a variety of different sizes. You will find a different selection of music being played, for your skating pleasure. There is a snack bar and a few seating areas for you to rest. The rink is situated in the sporting area of the Concorde Hotel on the airport road north of Na’ama bay. |

Taking a cruise on a quad runner is a fun, fast activity and a great way of getting out into the desert. There are quite a few companies offering these rides and most of them can be found on the desert side of the main road running through Na’ama Bay. Take a look: Sunset Trip by Quad Runner. You don’t have to be an experienced biker, you should be able to choose from automatic or manual with a clutch and gears. There are sunrise and sunset trips as well as daylong excursions (be careful of the day temps. in the summer months). Whatever time you decide to become a desert biker then a good tip is to bring a “Kofeya” or headdress. There is a lot of dust and sand driven up by the quads and it can be a bit rough on the hair, face and eyes. It will also protect you from the sun- don’t forget to get a photo! |

Shark's Bay is a cosy little bay bustling with life about half-way between the airport and Naama Bay. On the west side of the bay are sun umbrellas, sun beds, toilets, showers and a snack restaurant operated by Pyramisa Hotel directly above. At the other end are more litte restaurants, sunbeds and umbrellas though not quite up to the same quality. In between is a row of kiosks with souvenirs, and a jetty with boats operating dive excursions, snorkeling trips, water skiing, para-gliding and even pedalos. The snorkeling here all the way around headland is excellent with lots of colourful and very friendly fish. |
