Go Karting

ImageIf you feel the need for speed, but not of the skyward variety, then check out go karting. It’s not just for kids! Ghibli Raceway is a professional go-kart center, with four challenging tracks in one, built to FIA standards. The main circuit is 592 meters with the International Championship circuit 1,194 meters. As a competitor you are given racing overalls, a cotton balaclava and a full-face helmet. The marshals brief you on the rules of racing and then you are assigned your kart. The standard kart is 6.5hp and the expert kart (once qualified) is 13hp. As you whiz around the circuit, the computerized system clocks your current time and fastest lap alongside your competitors. The results are continually displayed on a large board at the side of the circuit. Go on your own and you will be placed with a group or make up a team. There are also races for children on a 220-meter circuit with a ‘cadet’ kart specially designed for kids. The raceway is situated on the airport road just outside Na’ama Bay next to Sofitel and the Hyatt hotel.
